'The Oul Ones'
Saint Peter's Church, North Road Circular, Dublin 7.

The proposed location of this piece is near the cathedral in Phibsboro. Situated in the heart of north Dublin, this huge church houses a spectacular stained glass window by Irish artist Harry Clark. The piece I have designed for this space, “The Oul’ones” features a quintessentially Dublin site of three old women catching up on the gossip on their way to mass. Aesthetically, there are several nods and references to Clark’s work in the colour scheme, detailing and use of heavy black line work. In short it is a homage to the charm and character of north Dublin while paying tribute an artist that has influenced my own work greatly since I discovered it while studying nearby in TUD. My hope for the piece is that it gives the people of Phibsboro something, beautiful, bright and colourful to look at while giving a nod to the history and culture of the village.
I’m a Dublin born artist and designer, recently graduating from studying visual communication in TUD. I hope to go on and establish myself as an illustrator and have spent my time since graduation trying to get my drawings out there. I have previously completed four Dublin canvas boxes from 2019-2021 and would absolutely love to be a part of the project again this year.
