The traffic light control boxes on the top of the Knocklyon road face out on to dodder valley park which is extremely popular for Knocklyon residents to walk their dogs. As local myself, living just a stone's throw from this junction, I was no exception. The design of the box features a portrait of my own dog who I sadly lost in June of last year. She has walked along that road and into the park to see her friends every day for 12 years and so I feel it is the perfect place for her now. Within my illustration, I tried to capture the unique, everyday spirit of living in my area with the greenery combing the perfect rows of houses to give off an easy-going, family-oriented, animal-friendly feel.
I have been painting since I was child and at the age of 27 I decided to return to education and pursue my love of art. I am currently studying Visual Communications in DIT. Having just finished my second year, I hope to go on and become and illustrator and street artist when I graduate in 2021.
