I am looking out my studio window at bluebells dancing in the breeze as I create this design. My design depicts their structural beauty, nodding heads of bell-shaped flowers in vibrant blue/purple colours. A native spring flower, folklore tells us that bluebells ring at night to call the fairy folk to moonlight parties, especially on festivals. The butterflies adds to the theme of active pollinators in Charlestown’s Adopt-a-patch. The area is planted and nicely maintained and the bright floral design accentuates the planting. They’re also reminiscent of delicate winged fairies flitting through the growth.
I am a graphic designer originally from Galway but living in Lucan for the past 26 years. I have worked many years as both a freelance designer and an inhouse designer. I do much of my work digitally - posters, computer illustrations, photo retouching, and PowerPoint presentations. As well as digital work, I also hand-paint murals (interior and exterior), window designs, signwriting projects etc.
