Artwork description:

The River Liffey winds its way through Chapelizod and has long been home to families of swans who breed and raise their young signets along the riverside. It’s a common sight to see these elegant, long necked creatures gliding majestically along the water surface. They present a very tranquil sight, contrasting with noise of the surrounding traffic and industry. I wanted to reflect this in my design, choosing a muted colour palette to suggest their deceptively peaceful lives, as they co-exist other wildlife and humans in Chapelizod.

Biography:

I am a graphic designer originally from Galway but living in Lucan for 24 years. I have worked many years as both a freelance designer and an in-house designer, but in recent years focused on raising my family. I specialise in print design – posters, computer illustrations, as well as photo retouching and PowerPoint illustrations. I am also very passionate about gardening and nature, and a lot of my work features elements of nature.
