The box is based on the life of Valentine Lawless. He lived in Maretimo House in Blackrock which no longer exists. In the 1800s, he brought a case of "criminal conversion" against Sir John Piers for having an affair with his wife. It was a famous scandal at the time because the Italian painter hired to paint murals in Lawless's house was called as a witness. I depicted the moment of the affair on the front of the box and the affair being uncovered at the sides by the painter on one side and Lawless on the other side.
Originally from Cork, I have been working as a barrister and artist in Dublin for the last 6 years. My art style varies although at present I am experimenting with cartoons, comics, and French bande-desinnee. My submissions reflect my interest in the History of Dublin and the themes we can use for today; ideals of loyalty, friendship, love and adventure.
