'Sarah Curran & Robert Curran'
Church Street. Dublin 7
2017
Dublin City Council
This is a piece about the love affair between the Revolutionary Robert Emmet and Sarah Curran the daughter of the esteemed barrister; John Philpot Curran. This piece shows the lovers sending and receiving letters which turn the traffic box into a circle. The Front Panel has Robert conspiring with his fellow revolutionaries. The Back Panel shows Sarah (mimicking Ingres Valpincon Bather). The Side Panels show Anne Devlin (Robert's loyal housekeeper) passing the letters between the parties despite boisterous Dubliners around her.
Originally from Cork, I have been working as a barrister and artist in Dublin for the last 6 years. My art style varies although at present I am experimenting with cartoons, comics and French bande-desinnee. My submissions reflect my interest in the History of Dublin and the themes we can use for today; ideals of loyalty, friendship, love and adventure.
